Barcelona Tapas and Wine Tour Review

Tapas & Wine Tour with Wine, Food & History

If there’s one thing Barcelona does exceptionally well, it’s food, wine, and atmosphere. On our recent trip, we booked a Tapas & Wine Tour through GetYourGuide — and it ended up being one of the most memorable evenings of our stay.

This experience took us deep into the Gothic Quarter, one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city, where winding cobblestone streets meet centuries-old buildings and bustling tapas bars.

The Tour Route – 4 Stops in the Gothic Quarter

The tour took us to four different tapas bars tucked away in the Gothic Quarter. Each stop offered something unique — from classic Spanish tapas to traditional Catalan flavours.

We wandered through narrow medieval streets, following the hum of locals gathering at their favourite spots. The area itself added so much charm to the experience — especially at night, when the streets come alive with energy.

Why We Chose This Tour

We love exploring cities through their food, and Barcelona is made for exactly that. This specific tour promised:

  • A curated tapas tasting across multiple locations
  • A mix of local wines, sangria, and vermouth
  • A local guide with insider knowledge
  • The chance to meet new people from all over the world

It sounded like the perfect blend of culture, history, and a little wine buzz.

What We Ate & Drank 🍷

At each stop, we sampled a different signature tapa paired with a local drink. Highlights included:

  • Traditional Spanish jamón ibérico with vermouth
  • A fresh tomato bread with local wine
  • Classic patatas bravas
  • Squid ink paella
  • Sweet endings with a sangria toast

Every spot had its own vibe — from cozy hole-in-the-wall to lively neighbourhood bar.

Where We Stayed 😴

For this trip, we stayed at Andante Hotel, perfectly located just steps from La Rambla and a short walk to the Gothic Quarter.

The location couldn’t have been more convenient — we were right in the heart of the city, but tucked away just enough to enjoy some quiet at the end of the day.

One of the highlights was the rooftop pool, which offered beautiful panoramic views of Barcelona. There’s nothing like watching the city from above with a sangria after a day of exploring. Thanks to the poolside bar. 🙂

The rooms were modern and comfortable, with sleek hardwood floors, great air conditioning, and all the essentials (including a powerful hairdryer, which is a small but big win).

We also added the buffet breakfast, and it was 100% worth it. From freshly made options at the live cooking station to plenty of local favorites, it made mornings easy and delicious — a perfect way to start each day.

The hotel also offered convenient extras like luggage storage, airport transfers, and vending machines for quick snacks. If you’re looking for a central, clean, and easy place to stay in Barcelona, Andante Hotel is a great pick.
