Let’s Jump Right Into the Good Stuff

The Rooms

After checking in, we headed to our room and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and cozy it was! We booked a mid-week stay to avoid any crowds, and while there weren’t any mountain view rooms available with a king bed and fireplace at the time, we opted for a general view—and having the fireplace made it totally worth it!

One of the nicest touches? We were provided with fresh coffee grinds and cream to make pour-over coffee in the morning, adding an extra level of comfort to our stay.

Sudden Sally – On-Site Restaurant

Just when we thought this hotel couldn’t get any more charming, Sudden Sally, the onsite restaurant, sealed the deal! We stopped in for happy hour, sipping on delicious cocktails (50% off—yes, please!) and snacking on some seriously good salt and pepper wings. Breakfast was just as impressive—we loved being able to roll out of bed and head downstairs without needing to hop in a car. Both mornings, the food was outstanding, and we left totally impressed!

If you were looking for grab-and-go options, the hotel had a coffee shop stocked with small bites, pastries, and sandwiches, making it easy to grab a quick and delicious snack before heading out to explore!

The rooftop hot pools were hands down the highlight of our stay! Spacious, serene, and perfectly relaxing, we lucked out and had them all to ourselves both days. The lower level features a smaller hot pool with a waterfall and breathtaking mountain views, while the larger upper-level pool offered plenty of space to unwind. After a long soak, we unwound in the hotel’s expansive sauna, making for the ultimate relaxation experience.

Right Between Us Tip

THINGS TO NOTE:
Robes and towels are provided but I didn’t see slippers, luckily I brought my flip flops with me.

One of the unexpected highlights of our trip was receiving complimentary Roam bus passes for the entire stay. We originally planned to take an Uber or taxi to our dinner reservations, but with a bus stop right across the street and a pickup schedule provided by the hotel, getting around was effortless. Knowing exactly when and where to catch the bus made it incredibly convenient, and we ended up using it both nights to explore downtown Banff!

One other piece of advice that we love to give people about Calgary and Banff is that there are multiple ways to move around without having to rent a car. Most people are going to fly into Calgary, stay in Calgary and then try to get to Banff. One of our favourite accommodation sources in Sean at Calgary is Calgary Short Term Stays and his collection of Calgary vacation rentals. The reason is that they also offer transfers from the airport and transfers to Banff. So booking with them means you can access transportation as well. Check it out.
